iPod vs Zune – Battle for your ears:

Zune is the Microsoft’s attempt to get into the music-player market. Though Zune is hyped as a more than iPod, it falls short of iPod in many respects. First of all, Zune lacks the image “Coolness” of owning one. In the case of iPod, you do not have to show you have an iPod, your ear plug shows it. On the features side, Zune cannot do video playbacks and lacks the support for host of audio/videos notably podcast and audio books. In comparing display, Zune has larger pixels that cover its large screen making the display less of quality compare to the iPod’s half inch smaller display.

Zune trumpeted the wifi and radio tuner features but when exchanging songs, it can only exchange songs with other Zunes only. The wifi feature it has cannot connect Internet or the wifi network for exchanging data. Songs received from another Zune can be played only three times or remain in Zune for three days. After the expiration, you have to buy songs from the Microsoft’s music store.

You can use iPod as your data store as well as your PDA. However, Zune is just a MP3 player for which you have to buy songs from Microsoft’s music store with credit points that are harder to figure out how much it cost. For example, 79 points buy a song which costs 99 cents for buying a song for iTune. The Zune music stores also provide subscriptions. However, when subscription expires, the songs you bought with it also expire. Whereas, the iTune music stores provide you with a song for 99 cents and let you have it forever.

The wheel on an iPod is the coolest feature but Zune has only the feature that looks like it but actually is four navigational keys.

So far, a coolest music player has been iPod; Zune does need to make any dent on the coolness of the iPod yet.

Why Not Nepal have term limit on Prime Minister to Two Terms?

Compare Nepal’s Prime Ministerial system to USA’s Presidential system. The one single most difference is term limit.

Why should we have term limit?

This provides a framework where a single person does not dictate for more than two terms. Thus allowing to bring fresh ideas and fresh energy into the political systems. This also prevents the dictatorship. Let’s take an example of USA. USA services from any type of presidents because it has term limit of two terms that is 8 years. The system guarantees a fresh new ideas and fresh new direction in 8 years. So, the president does not have incentive to dictate the system and people as he/she cannot stay more than two terms. As a matter of fact, the president becomes ‘lame dock’ in their second term because the forces of people who need to be elected are greater than the president who is not fighting for the election anymore.

Let’s talk about what happened in Nepal. Nepal does not have term limit in Prime Minister. What happened in last 15 years that we had election? We had a Prime Minister who with hooks or crooks stayed in the Prime Minister for many times and may years. What puzzles me is that he is still the Prime Minister. This Prime Minister and his group does not have vision, has not taken a single project to improve lives of Nepali people, has worked on deteriorating the system rather than building it. This is what produced a no limit Prime-minister-ship.

Let’s assume for that during those periods Nepal had term limit on Prime-minister for two terms. That would have limited the damage due to this single Prime Minister who was using hooks and crooks to be a PM. Lets say he had served two terms. Then, he would never be PM again and there is a fresh new idea and fresh new energy. We will have a person with vision to work on pushing the country forward. This will create an environment of competition of who can do better than who can stay in power and become dictator.

We have a chance that we can make this right and create a healthy competitive environment in moving the people forward. There are many unknown faces in Nepal waiting for opportunity to do well for the country. Let’s create this environment from the current situation while we have a chance to do so. Let make the two terms Prime Minister in Nepal in the new constitution.

Where should we invest in nepal?

Nepalese have struggled to get to current political state to have peace and prosperity. Has politicians understood that yet? A regular Nepali wants nothing but peaceful environment where she/he can earn a living wage. After the revolution, where has been the investments? Following are investments area that we absolutely focus.

Investment shall be made in developing rural areas such:

Roads leading to those areas. These road should be 4 lane highway that of western par. Please send engineers to USA to observer how to build roads. Roads come with bridges. Let’s make this east west high way along the plane where it is easier to build and connect the North with many smaller north-south high ways. So it will be a long east west highway with smaller north-south highways perpendicular to east-west highway that provide access to high mountains.

Railway systems are a better way of transportation that provides a general population a way to move around the country to get to their jobs. Let’s build a railway along with the highway. East-west railways then we have short north-south connecting various major centers.

Hospitals are a necessity not a luxury. Let’s build hospitals in major centers with par with western standards. Let’s build research centers or let western schools to build research centers on advanced diseases. Let’s not build Hospitals in Kathamandu only.

If we start road and railway project today, this will provide at least 20% of Nepali jobs. Can we do this? Absolutely yes. Can we trust current politicians to do it? Absolutely not.

So, how can we achieve this? This project needs to involve people who are honest. We need to ensure checks and balances such that there is no corruption. How can we do such things? We can do by electing a committee chosen by people and these are not politicians. They cannot hold any other political offices. They report directly to people with their finances, work progress every quarter with full transparency.
